RSYO Weekly Email | January 24, 2023

Hello RSYO!

Three updates today:

Yaniv Attar is the RSO’s new Music Director!

If you missed last week’s announcement, the RSO has named Yaniv Attar as our new Music Director. He won’t start conducting concerts until the Fall, but will be in town for our March 19 Chamber Concert. If you’re not playing in Chamber Orchestra, mark your calendar to come out and support your fellow musicians and have a chance to meet Yaniv before the performance (he will be rushing to catch a plane after the concert). Read more about Yaniv here.

Welcome Javier to the RSYO team!

As you know, Audra has moved on to a new position. Javier Roman has been the RSO’s Administrative Coordinator, and he is moving into the Education and Engagement Coordinator role. This means he’ll be helping RSYO stay organized and have everything we need to be our best. In addition to emails from me, you may also be hearing from Javier. If you need to reach him, you can email him at jroman@rockfordsymphony.com, or call the office at 815-965-0049.

Spring Tickets

A quick explanation about RSYO comp tickets. Pre-Covid, RSYO musicians were eligible for up to three tickets to all RSO Classics concerts. When we came back from Covid, we were in the midst of the Music Director Search concerts and RSYO students were invited to all performances. This Spring, our John Williams concert on February 11 is more of a “Pops” concert, and therefore RSYO tickets are not available. However, student tickets are still just $10 for this performance, so please still consider coming – it will be a great concert! If you are purchasing regular priced (adult) tickets, you can add a student ticket online. If you are purchasing a student ticket alone, you will need to call the office at 815-965-0049.

For other Spring performances at the Coronado, you can request RSYO tickets online here. At this time, we don’t have the capacity to make tickets available for our Chamber Concert at the Art Museum. If that changes, I will let you know!

Thanks and have a great week!

Margo
