Michael Kikta, M.D., President
Dr. Michael Kikta has served on the RSO’s Board of Directors since 2010. He is a retired vascular surgeon and has lived in Rockford with his wife Karen for the past thirty years. In addition to being an RSO Patron and Board Member, Dr. Kikta is the parent of an Rockford Symphony Youth Orchestra Alumni musician.
Of his role on the RSO Board, Dr. Kikta says, “It is a privilege to experience high quality live orchestral music and serving on the RSO board is a way for me to help shepherd this wonderful artistic community asset.”

Julie Thomas, Executive Director
Ms. Thomas joined the RSO staff as Marketing and Development Director in December 2004 and assumed the position of Executive Director in November 2009. Before joining the RSO, she held marketing and promotion positions with Famous-Barr, a division of the May Department Stores Company, for nine years. Ms. Thomas received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications/Journalism from Truman State University in Kirksville, Missouri, and a minor in Applied Music. She earned a Certificate of Non-Profit Leadership through Rockford College. Ms. Thomas received the 2020 Excellence in Leadership award from the Rockford Chamber of Commerce.
