Rockford, IL – The Rockford Symphony Orchestra is launching their family friendly series this summer in partnership with Anderson Japanese Gardens called SYMPHONY SATURDAYS. This fun and educational program will introduce the four instrument families of the orchestra to children in an up-close and personal presentation by professional musicians of the RSO.
Symphony Saturdays is a four-part series of music experiences to engage young children in learning about the four instrument families of an orchestra. Children and their parents attending the four, hour-long sessions will learn about the orchestra, engage with professional musicians, and hear live music in an intimate setting at Anderson Japanese Gardens. Symphony Saturdays will have performances by RSO ensembles representing the String, Woodwind, Brass, and Percussion families, and a hands-on activity reinforcing the information and music will follow each performance. By engaging, children will become more knowledgeable about and interested in symphonic music and musical instruments.
Remaining Symphony Saturday dates for summer of 2015:
- Wonderful Woodwinds - July 11
- Spectacular Strings - August 8
- Powerful Percussion - September 12
10:00 - 11:00a, 318 Spring Creek Rd., Rockford
