collaborate on an annual concerto competition
targeting young musicians from a 50 mile radius of
Rockford
. The 2012
competition was held on Saturday, January 21, 2012.
Cash
prizes are awarded for the top three competitors and the First Prize winner is
offered an opportunity to perform with the Rockford Symphony Youth Orchestra in
the Spring 2012 concert.

Third Prize:
Thomas Wu, clarinet – from
Rockford

As first
prize winner, Ms. Nerius will performed her competition piece, the third
movement of the Violin Concerto in E minor, op. 64 by Felix Mendelssohn. She
will perform as a featured soloist with the RSYO on the Spring Concert, Sunday
April 29 at the Coronado Theater.
