Linc Smelser, conductor

RSYO is comprised of students from all across Northern Illinois and Southern Wisconsin, including Belvidere, Rochelle, Dixon, Pecatonica, Stillman Valley, Freeport, and Rockford, who have a love of classical music and a desire to improve their skills while performing as an ensemble. Auditions are held annually in the spring for the next concert season. Rehearsals are from 1:45 – 2:45 p.m. for Chamber Orchestra and 3:00 – 5:15 p.m. for full orchestra at Rockford Lutheran High School.

The program is a challenging and fun music education experience for approximately sixty high school students who make up the orchestra. RSYO rehearses weekly and performs for the public throughout the year. Tuition is $400 for the year and there is a $50 fee for participation in Chamber Orchestra. Tuition assistance is possible as funds are available. For additional information call 815.972.2939 or email Margo Stedman, Education and Community Engagement Director, at mstedman@rockfordsymphonyorchestra.com.
