Rockford Symphony Youth Orchestra

Linc Smelser, conductor

RSYO is comprised of students from all across Northern Illinois and Southern Wisconsin, including Belvidere, Rochelle, Dixon, Pecatonica, Stillman Valley, Freeport, and Rockford, who have a love of classical music and a desire to improve their skills while performing as an ensemble. Auditions are held annually in the spring for the next concert season. Rehearsals are from 1:45 – 2:45 p.m. for Chamber Orchestra and 3:00 – 5:15 p.m. for full orchestra at Rockford Lutheran High School.

The program is a challenging and fun music education experience for approximately sixty high school students who make up the orchestra. RSYO rehearses weekly and performs for the public throughout the year. Tuition is $400 for the year and there is a $50 fee for participation in Chamber Orchestra. Tuition assistance is possible as funds are available. For additional information call 815.972.2939 or email Margo Stedman, Education and Community Engagement Director, at
