Rockford Symphony Youth Orchestra presents Chamber Music

Rockford, IL The Rockford Symphony Youth Orchestra will present its Fall Chamber Concert at Mendelssohn Performing Arts Center on Sunday, November 8 at 3:00pm. Featuring the RSYO Chamber Orchestra, Brass Choir, and Sterling String Quartet, the concert will feature Chamber Music ranging from the Renaissance to Romantic eras. This concert is a wonderful and affordable opportunity to hear great chamber music and see the young talent that the Rockford region has to offer.

On the program is Vivaldi’s Concert in G minor for Two Cellos and Orchestra, featuring RSYO Conductor Linc Smelser and RSO Principal Cellist Michael Beert as the cello soloists. Linc Smelser is an accomplished cellist who frequently plays as a member of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. Michael Beert is well-known in the Rockford area for his contribution to the musical community, both as a member of the Rockford Symphony Orchestra, as a performer in various chamber settings in the area, and as the conductor of the Rock Valley Orchestra. Additionally, the Chamber Orchestra will play the Symphony in C Major by Georges Bizet under the direction of Linc Smelser.

The RSYO Brass Choir will perform pieces by William Byrd and Anthony DiLorenzo under the direction of Vicki Hastings. The Sterling String Quartet, coached by Young Yi, will perform movements from Haydn’s “Sunrise” Quartet.

Tickets for this performance are just $5 per person, and can be purchased in advance online from rockfordsymphony.com, or at the door.
