RSO Hosts Wine and Cheese Fundraiser
Rockford, IL, May 31, 2011—The Rockford Symphony Orchestra announces RSO on Tap, a unique fundraising event featuring beer and cheese tasting and live entertainment on the Rock River. RSO on Tap will be held from 7-10 pm on Friday, June 17 at the Prairie Street Brewhouse, 200 Prairie Street, Rockford.
Certified Cicerone Aaron Sleger has selected 16 beers to be sampled at this event. The Cicerone Certification program independently assesses and certifies the beer knowledge and tasting abilities of industry professionals. Sleger, a Rockford native, completed the Cicerone program and received his certification in spring 2009. Rob Murphy of Curds & Whey Cheese Company will select cheeses to be paired with the beers. Murphy has also served as a French horn player in the RSO for more than twenty years.
Live jazz music will be provided throughout the evening by popular local musicians Joel Ross, Karl Seigfried, Jack Brand, and Ken Stein. Ross, Seigfried, and Brand were featured musicians at the March 2011 RSO Classics concert, performing a work for jazz trio and chamber orchestra to rave reviews. Burgers, brats, and other cookout food will be served hot off the grill as guests enjoy the patio overlooking the river at the recently renovated Prairie Street Brewhouse. RSO on Tap is hosted by Aaron and Ellie Hotlen.
Tickets for RSO on Tap are $40 per person and include beer samples, cheese, dinner, and entertainment. A cash bar will also be available. Reservations may be made online at www.rockfordsymphony.com or by calling the RSO office at 815.965.0049 by Friday, June 9.
