Classics 2: Mendelssohn & Brahms

November 11, 2017 - 7:30pm
Mendelssohn Chorale, Martha Bein, Director

Tickets range from: $25-$65
Student tickets: $9 (can only be purchased over the phone or at the Box Office)

The RSO will be paying tribute to fallen Officer Jaimie Cox of the Rockford Police Department in the performance.

About the program:
Mendelssohn’s beautiful Symphony No. 5 (Reformation) is featured with its recognizable melody, based on Martin Luther’s chorale Ein feste Burg ist unser Gott (A Mighty Fortress Is Our God) in the final movement. A German Requiem described by Brahms himself as a “requiem for humanity,” is heavy with imagery and lush choral sounds.
