The stentorian fanfares of Wagner’s majestic Rienzi Overture welcomes world renowned Carol Wincenc to perform Christopher Rouse’s passionate and lively Flute Concerto. Written especially for Ms. Wincenc, this piece of technical brilliance and sheer virtuosity has been hailed as profoundly moving. Dvorák’s stirring Seventh Symphony, considered his greatest achievement, was written as the composer proclaimed, “to shake the world.”
