The sands of time flow back two thousand years as we travel to Asia Minor, Persia, and Arabia to hear the stories that inspired three very different composers. Mendelssohn shows us St. Paul through a lens of Bach-inspired Christianity; Hovhaness interprets Khayyam’s mystical poetry through accordion solo and narrator; and Rimsky-Korsakov spins the tales of ‘One Thousand and One Arabian Nights’ in orchestral splendor.
